Aesthetic Botox

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Lafayette, LA

Aesthetic Botox Injections are nonsurgical medical procedures that use a class of medications called neuromodulators formulated to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing dynamic muscle movement. Advanced techniques can also address jowling of the lower face, skin laxity of the neck, and contour larger muscle groups.

About the Treatment

Aesthetic Botox Injections are quick, minimally invasive nonsurgical medical procedures, with appointment times typically ranging between 15 to 30 minutes. The appointment begins with an in-depth clinical assessment of the patient’s facial anatomy, muscle movement and muscle strength. Areas of concern and desired outcome are discussed to ensure the patient and provider have a shared understanding of the treatment goals and expected results. The provider then develops an individualized treatment plan, including the selection of the appropriate neuromodulator, medication dose, and injection sites.

After the skin is cleansed and prepped, the botox is precisely injected into targeted muscles using injection points customized to the patient’s anatomy. Advanced injection techniques may be utilized when clinically appropriate, allowing treatments to extend beyond traditional upper-face Botox injections. Depending on the patient’s facial anatomy and treatment goals, customized techniques may be used to improve jowling and skin laxity of the lower face and neck. Larger muscle groups may also be treated for procedures such as shoulder contouring and calf slimming. This advanced approach allows for highly individualized treatment plans that go beyond standard Botox injections.

Treatment options include the use of BOTOX Cosmetic, as well as Dysport and/or Xeomin. Your provider will help to determine which option is best suited for you, based on the treatment area, individual anatomy, and/or response to prior treatment.

What Does Aesthetic Botox Address?

Aesthetic Botox injections improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive dynamic muscle movement. More common areas of concern include horizontal forehead lines, frown lines (11s), crows feet and lines above the upper lip.

Advanced Botox injection techniques can also improve the appearance of a gummy smile (excessive gingival display), chin dimpling, jowling, as well as jawline and neck contouring. Botox injected into the masseter muscles is an aesthetic technique used for facial slimming. Shoulder contouring (barbie botox) and calf slimming are additional treatment options.

  • Gummy Smile: botox is injected into the muscles that elevate the upper lip when smiling. By relaxing these muscles, the upper lip is not pulled as high, reducing the amount of gum that shows, which creates a more balanced smile.
  • Lip flip: botox is injected into targeted areas of the muscle that encircles the upper lip, relaxing the muscles ability to pull the lip inward. This allows for the upper lip to gently roll outward, creating the appearance of a slightly fuller, more defined upper lip without adding volume with dermal filler.
  • Chin dimpling: an overactive chin muscle can create a dimpled or “orange peel” appearance. Botox relaxes this muscle to create a smoother-looking chin. Relaxing the muscle in the chin (mentalis) can also be performed to improve the appearance of the mental crease – the horizontal crescent shape line that appears just below the lower lip and above the chin.
  • Facial Slimming: patients with strong or enlarged masseter muscles may have a wide or more square-shaped lower face. Injecting botox into the masseter muscles can gradually reduce their size and create a slimmer, more oval shaped lower-facial appearance.
  • Jawline and Neck Lifting (Nefertiti Neck Lift): botox can target muscles that pull downward on the lower face, neck and jawline. Specific injection points along these muscles help to reduce the downward pull on the lower face, neck and jawline, while allowing the lifting muscles of the midface to work with less resistance. This can help improve the appearance of jowling, jawline and neck definition, while creating a lifting effect through the mid and lower face, which can also improve the appearance of the tear trough area in appropriately selected patients.
  • Shoulder Contouring (Barbie Botox): botox can relax enlarged or overactive trapezius muscles, gradually reducing muscle prominence and creating a softer, more elongated appearance through the neck and shoulders.
  • Calf Slimming: botox can be injected into prominent calf muscles to help gradually reduce muscle bulk, creating a slimmer calf contour, and improving patients ability to wear knee high boots.

Who Is a Candidate?

Good candidates are healthy adults bothered by lines from facial expressions, or by muscle-related contour concerns such as a square jaw or prominent shoulders. The best results come from lines that deepen with movement and soften at rest.

Botox may not be the right choice if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain neuromuscular conditions, or have an active skin infection at the treatment site. It also isn’t right if you have a known allergy to any ingredient. Deep lines that show at rest, or lines caused by volume loss or sagging skin, often respond better to dermal filler, MOXI laser resurfacing, or SkinTyte. Your provider may recommend combining treatments.

The Aesthetic Botox Consultation

Your consultation covers your medical history, current medications, and past neuromodulator treatments. Your provider watches your face at rest and in motion to assess muscle strength and movement patterns. Photos may be taken to plan treatment and track results. Together you’ll discuss your goals, the areas to treat, which product fits best, and a realistic timeline for results.

What to Expect During Treatment

Treatment takes place in our office and usually takes 15 to 30 minutes. Most patients do not need numbing. After the skin is cleansed, your provider places a series of small injections using a very fine needle. Most patients feel only a quick pinch at each point.

Recovery and Aftercare

There is little to no downtime, and most patients return to work right away. Small bumps at the injection points usually fade within an hour. Mild redness, tenderness, or small bruises can occur and typically resolve within a few days.

For the first several hours after treatment, avoid lying flat, rubbing or massaging the treated areas, and strenuous exercise. A follow-up visit about two weeks after treatment lets your provider assess results and make any small adjustments.

Results

Most patients start to notice results within 3 to 5 days, with full results at around two weeks. For wrinkles, results usually last 3 to 4 months. Results for masseter, trapezius, and calf treatments can build and last longer with repeat sessions. How long results last depends on the product, the dose, the treatment area, your metabolism, and your muscle strength. Regular maintenance helps keep results consistent.

FAQ

What is aesthetic Botox?

Aesthetic Botox is a nonsurgical injectable treatment that temporarily relaxes targeted muscles to soften lines and wrinkles caused by movement. It can also contour areas such as the jaw, shoulders, and calves.

How does Botox work?

Botox temporarily blocks the nerve signals that tell a muscle to contract. The treated muscle relaxes, and the skin above it looks smoother.

Am I a candidate?

Most healthy adults with lines from facial expressions or muscle-related contour concerns are candidates. Botox is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How long does treatment take?

Most appointments take 15 to 30 minutes.

Is Botox painful?

Most patients feel only a brief pinch at each injection point.

How much downtime is required?

Little to none. Most patients return to normal activities right away.

When will I see results, and how long do they last?

Results appear within 3 to 5 days, peak at about two weeks, and usually last 3 to 4 months.

Are there risks or side effects?

Common side effects include mild bruising, redness, swelling, and headache. Less often, patients experience temporary drooping of the eyelid or brow. A careful assessment and precise placement help reduce these risks.

Can Botox be combined with other treatments?

Yes. Botox is often paired with dermal filler, MOXI, BBL HEROic, or SkinTyte to address volume, texture, and tone as well as movement.
