MOXI® Laser Skin Resurfacing Consultation

About the Treatment

MOXI Laser Skin Resurfacing is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive fractional laser treatment designed to resurface and retexturize the skin while stimulating new collagen production. Treatment can improve fine lines and wrinkles, rough or uneven texture, enlarged pores, skin quality, and mild skin laxity, creating smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin. MOXI may also be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for patients with melasma, with treatment settings carefully selected based on the patient’s skin type and condition. MOXI can be used on all skin types and on multiple areas of the face and body. Each treatment begins with a comprehensive clinical assessment of the patient’s skin type, skin quality, areas of concern, and desired outcome. A thorough understanding of laser theory and how different skin types respond to laser energy is important when selecting treatment settings. The provider customizes the energy, treatment density, and number of passes based on the patient’s skin and desired level of resurfacing. Patients receive pre-treatment instructions via email immediately after booking to ensure the skin is properly prepared. Medical-grade ALASTIN Skincare may be recommended beginning approximately two weeks before treatment to help prepare and support the skin. On the day of treatment, topical numbing medication is applied for approximately 45 minutes for patient comfort. The numbing medication is then removed, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared, and protective eyewear is placed before treatment begins. Following MOXI, the provider reviews the post-treatment protocol in detail, and written aftercare instructions are provided. ALASTIN Regenerating Skin Nectar with TriHex Technology may be recommended before and after treatment to support the skin throughout the procedure process and is available for purchase in clinic or through our website. For patients who also have sun damage, brown spots, redness, or uneven pigmentation, MOXI may be paired with BBL light-based technology. This combination allows BBL to address unwanted pigment and redness while MOXI focuses on resurfacing, texture, collagen remodeling, and overall skin quality.

What Does MOXI Address?

  • Face & Neck Rejuvenation: MOXI laser skin resurfacing can improve fine lines, uneven texture, early skin laxity, and overall skin quality by supporting collagen remodeling and skin renewal. At Refyne Medical Aesthetics and Wellness, we approach facial rejuvenation comprehensively and treat the face and neck together rather than treating the face in isolation, helping create a more consistent result across both areas.
  • Face, Neck & Chest Rejuvenation: Signs of aging often extend beyond the face to the neck and décolletage. MOXI laser skin resurfacing can be extended to the chest to improve texture, fine lines, skin quality, and visible signs of aging. Treatment packages are available for the face and neck or face, neck, and chest for more comprehensive rejuvenation.
  • Body Skin Tightening & Rejuvenation: MOXI laser skin resurfacing can also be used on areas of the body where patients experience crepey texture, decreased skin firmness, and age-related changes in skin quality. For areas such as the abdomen, arms, thighs, and buttocks, MOXI may be combined with SkinTyte to address both skin quality and laxity. MOXI focuses on fractional resurfacing and collagen remodeling, while SkinTyte uses infrared light energy to heat deeper tissue and support additional collagen contraction and remodeling.
  • Melasma Management: Melasma is a chronic pigment condition that can be worsened by heat, inflammation, and excessive sun exposure, making careful laser selection especially important. MOXI uses a 1927 nm fractional wavelength that targets water within the skin, allowing controlled resurfacing with less thermal injury than more aggressive laser treatments. This makes MOXI an option for patients with melasma, including a broad range of skin tones. Treatment may be combined with prescription therapies, medical-grade skincare, and strict sun protection to help manage pigmentation and reduce the risk of recurrence.

Who Is a Candidate?

MOXI suits adults of all skin types who want smoother texture, a more even glow, and early anti-aging results with little downtime. It works well as a first laser treatment or as regular maintenance. MOXI may not be appropriate during pregnancy, with active acne or infection in the area, with recent isotretinoin use, with a history of poor wound healing, or with a recent tan. Deep wrinkles or significant laxity may need a more aggressive resurfacing treatment, SkinTyte, or combination care.

The MOXI Consultation

Your provider reviews your skin type, concerns, medical history, medications, sun exposure, and past treatments, including any history of cold sores or pigment problems. Photos may be taken to track your progress. Your provider recommends the number of sessions, the settings, any pre-treatment skincare, and whether pairing MOXI with BBL HEROic or SkinTyte would help you reach your goals.

What to Expect During Treatment

Topical numbing cream is applied for about 45 minutes. It is then removed, your skin is cleansed, and protective eyewear is placed. The laser is passed over the treatment area in a series of passes. Most patients feel warmth and a light prickling. The laser portion usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the area. Afterward, your provider walks you through the aftercare protocol, and you receive written instructions.

Recovery and Aftercare

Expect redness and mild swelling for 1 to 2 days, and a warm, sunburn-like feeling the first evening. Over the next several days the skin may feel rough, like sandpaper, and look slightly bronzed as treated skin flakes away. Most patients return to normal activities within a day or two. Use gentle skincare, moisturize regularly, avoid sun exposure, and apply sunscreen daily. Pause exfoliants and retinoids until your provider clears you.

Results

Skin often looks brighter and smoother within 1 to 2 weeks as it renews. Collagen continues to build over the following months. A series of about 3 to 4 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart is commonly recommended for best results, followed by maintenance sessions. Results depend on your skin type, the condition being treated, sun protection, and your home skincare.
